JOB DESCRIPTION
Sign hangers build signs by hand from a variety of materials including metal, plastic and glass.
Tools used include state-of-the-art equipment such as computerized numerical control (CNC) cutting machines and computer driven plotters, as well as traditional equipment such as hydraulic cranes for installations and repairs.
This apprenticeship program leads to the Limited Journeyman Sign Electrician license.
APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION:
Sign hangers build signs by hand from a variety of materials including metal, plastic and glass.
Tools used include state-of-the-art equipment such as computerized numerical control (CNC) cutting machines and computer driven plotters, as well as traditional equipment such as hydraulic cranes for installations and repairs.
This apprenticeship program leads to the Limited Journeyman Sign Electrician license.
The work is often strenuous, performed both indoors and outdoors and requires some lifting, climbing, bending and working on ladders.
Hazards include shock, burns, falls and falling objects.
Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 18 of age.
In addition, they must provide proof of high school graduation or general education development (GED) equivalent.
Classroom Hours: A minimum of 144 hours per year for 4 years
On-the-Job Training: 8,000 hours (approx. 4 years)
Starting Wage: $17.63 /hr
Journey Worker (graduated): $35.25 /hr

APPLICATION INFORMATION:
- Provide proof of at least 18 years of age with HS diploma or GED.
- Submit documentation for points for ranking placement:
- Points are rewarded for: Valid drivers license, military, americorp, peace corp, vista, education, vocational training, industry related certifications (crane, welding, CDL, etc.) work experience documented on company letterhead, and completion of BOLI approved pre-apprenticeship.

- Attend 1/2 day of orientation and 1 day (split into two 1/2 days) of OSHA-10 training (unpaid training).
- Provide your ID information before the end of the month you intend to apply.

Complete the online application and select the date for the next Applicant Orientation.
2:
Attend the Applicant Orientation to learn about the program and determine if you want to move forward with a State application. If you do, you will attend a 5-day safety week which will start the following Monday.

The official BOLI Apprenticeship Registration Agreement Form will be emailed to you upon completion of orientation.

Required Documentation: Proof of age. Documentation for the applicant point system is optional, but more points will get you higher on the qualified applicant list.

All minimum qualification documents must be submitted by noon the Thursday following orientation.
6:
Completion of UA will be done Thursday, following orientation.
