APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Provide proof of at least 18 years of age.

  • Submit documentation for points for ranking placement.
    • Points are awarded for…
      • valid drivers license, military, education, certifications, work experience documented on company letterhead and completion of BOLI approved pre-apprenticeship.
    • View entire point system HERE

  • Attend 1/2 day of orientation and 1 day (split into two 1/2 days) of OSHA-10 training (unpaid training).

  • Provide your ID information before the end of the month you intend to apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Brick masons construct walls, fireplaces, chimneys, industrial furnaces, kilns and other structures using brick, cement, cinder blocks, stone and marble. They construct and remodel houses, commercial buildings, bridges, churches, and factories.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Brick masons usually work outdoors in all types of weather. There is considerable bending and heavy lifting for most masonry work. At times masonry workers must work at heights. Concrete blocks are used more than bricks, often weighing 30 pounds or more, which must be lifted with one hand.

LENGTH OF APPRENTICESHIP

Classroom Hours: A minimum of 144 hours per year for 3 years.

On-the-Job Training: 6,000 hours (approx. 3 years).

Private Wage: $18.25 /hr

PWR Wage: $20.00 /hr

Private Wage: $36.50 /hr

PWR Wage: $40.00 /hr
