JOB DESCRIPTION
The work may include: basic telephone cable installation and termination, installation and repair of fire alarm systems, intrusion/burglar alarm systems, audio/visual systems, closed-circuit television, communications systems, fiber optics, programmable and controlling instruments, local area networks, and structured wiring systems.
Our apprentices work indoors and outdoors, in private residences and industrial buildings, on new construction and existing structures, and in all types of weather.
The Protective Signaling Apprenticeship program is designed to prepare individuals for the Oregon Limited Energy Technician – Class A licensing exam and a career in a rapidly changing electrical industry.
APPRENTICESHIP INFORMATION:

Protective Signaling apprentices work indoors and outdoors, in private residences and industrial buildings, on new construction and existing structures, and in all types of weather.
Individuals must be in good physical and mental condition and have the ability to perform detailed work with a good attitude.
This work can be seasonal and there can be periods of unemployment.
Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 18 years of age and provide proof of high school graduation or GED certificate.
Applicants must also have proof of one year of high school algebra, integrated math 2, or equivalent post-high school math courses with a grade of C or better.
Classroom Hours: A minimum of 144 hours per year (a minimum of 432 hours) over approximately 3 years.
On-the-Job Training: 6,000 hours (approximately 3 years).
Starting Wage: $20.13 /hr
Journey Worker (graduated): $40.25 /hr

APPLICATION INFORMATION:

Application will be rejected if the required documents are not submitted.
- Provide proof of at least 18 years of age.
- Provide proof of high school graduation, GED certificate.
- Must have completed one year of high school algebra, integrated math 2, or equivalent post-high school algebra course(s) with a grade of C or better, or submit equivalent math placement test scores
- Submit documentation for points for ranking placement.
- Points are awarded for: valid drivers license, military, education, certifications, work experience documented on company letterhead and completion of BOLI approved pre-apprenticeship.
