COURSE INFORMATION:
This classroom-based course is intended for workers who may encounter confined spaces in their work environment. It is built to equip participants with a solid understanding of confined space risks and how to work safely around them.
Taught by an OSHA 1926 Construction Standard instructor.
Confined Space Awareness provides awareness-level safety training focused on recognizing hazards, understanding safe work practices, and emphasizing the importance of avoiding confined space entry without proper authorization and training.
This course is intended for awareness-level training and does not qualify participants to serve as a “competent person.” That designation would be determined by the employer.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion in Confined Space Awareness.
Teaching topics include…
- OSHA’s definition of a confined space and common construction site examples
- Conditions that make confined spaces hazardous and why they are dangerous
- Best practices for staying safe around confined spaces
- Hazard recognition and warning signs to watch for
- Proper donning and doffing of respirators (using client-supplied respirator)
