Description

SILICA AWARENESS IN CONSTRUCTION

Those working in the construction field encounter silica dust, and other hazardous materials, during many common construction tasks. Operating grinders, saws, drills, jackhammers, roto-hammers, and heavy equipment in demolition are some of the ways that a worker may be exposed to silica dust.  Exposure can lead to life threatening diseases, such as lung cancer, silicosis and other respiratory diseases that diminish a worker’s ability to perform their job.

This 4-hour class will identify the materials and tasks that create silica hazards. Silica Awareness training will demonstrate ways to protect yourself when exposed to silica dust and includes a heavy emphasis on respiratory protection and a hands-on approach to protection. You will also learn how to create a written exposure control plan through the job hazard analysis system.
